Maths in Motion

Grade 6 MYP Mathematics students recently took part in an interactive gallery walk focused on developing their understanding of greatest common factor (GCF) and prime factorization. This engaging activity allowed students to move around the classroom, exploring real-world math problems posted at different stations. Using MYP command terms such as identify, calculate, and justify, students collaborated in pairs and small groups to solve each task. The physical movement combined with cognitive challenge helped maintain energy and focus throughout the session.

As a follow-up, students applied their understanding creatively by designing their own Canva posters, each illustrating a real-life application of GCF or prime factorization from the gallery walk. This task supported the development of key Approaches to Learning (ATL) skills, including communication, collaboration, creative thinking, and self-management. By explaining their reasoning and organizing their ideas visually, students practiced presenting mathematical thinking in multiple formats.

The gallery walk not only deepened conceptual understanding but also made math feel relevant and enjoyable. Students appreciated the opportunity to learn in a dynamic way, connect with peers, and express their learning artistically. This experience highlighted how mathematics can be both active and expressive—an excellent start to their MYP math journey.

When Football Meets Theatre

With Coach Dan and Mr. Z, our Grades 7–8 Theatre students are transforming the drama of the pitch into live performance—showing how collaboration fuels creativity.

From the breath-held tension of a penalty kick to the roar of a winning goal, they’re discovering that football and theatre share the same power to move an audience. Catch their debut at an upcoming assembly—bring your cheers!
