Ryan brings more than 18 years of teaching experience across the UK and international schools in China, Saudi Arabia, Indonesia, and Vietnam. He holds a Bachelor of Science (Hons) in Sports Technology from the University of Bath and completed his Graduate Teacher Program (GTP) in Physical Education at Kingston University. Throughout his career, Ryan has taught across both the British and International Baccalaureate curricula, including IB Diploma Sports, Exercise and Health Science (SEHS). His international experience has shaped his belief that every student can develop a lifelong appreciation for movement, health, and well-being.
A Passion for Sport and Science
Ryan's love of sport began on the rugby field, but it was during his university studies that he discovered a fascination with the science behind human movement. Exploring biomechanics, performance, and physiology inspired him to combine his passion for physical activity with helping young people build confidence, resilience, and lifelong healthy habits.
A Global Perspective on Learning
Teaching in diverse international communities has shaped Ryan's adaptive and inclusive approach to education. His experiences have reinforced that while physical literacy is a universal language, every student connects with sport differently. By creating a safe, culturally responsive environment, Ryan ensures every learner feels supported, challenged, and empowered to achieve their personal best.
Personalizing Physical Education
Ryan believes personalized learning in Physical Education begins with meeting students where they are and helping them reach their individual potential. Through differentiated activities, personalized fitness goals, modified games, and reflective learning, he creates opportunities for every student to succeed. Advanced athletes are challenged to extend themselves, while those developing confidence receive the guidance and support they need to grow.
Building Confidence for Life
For Ryan, Physical Education is about much more than sport. He believes it plays a vital role in developing confidence, teamwork, resilience, and a lifelong commitment to health and well-being. His goal is to inspire every student to embrace an active lifestyle and leave his classroom with the skills and mindset to succeed both on and off the field.
