Ally Ee is an experienced international Mandarin educator whose teaching approach has been shaped by her work across Australia, Singapore, Malaysia and China. She holds a Bachelor of Arts, a Graduate Diploma in Education and a Master in Education.

Her teaching philosophy is captured by the Chinese proverb 授人以鱼不如授人以渔, “give a man a fish, and you feed him for a day; teach him to fish, and you feed him for a lifetime.” For Ally, teaching is not about supplying students with answers, but equipping them with the mindset, tools and resilience to solve problems independently.

A Global Approach to Teaching

Each country in which she has taught has added a different dimension to this philosophy. In Australia, she developed a strong appreciation for student-led inquiry, learning to step back and allow students’ curiosity to drive learning. In Singapore, she developed a rigorous approach to scaffolding, using clear structures, benchmarks and feedback to help students understand their progress and next steps.

Her experience in Malaysia strengthened her cultural adaptability, particularly in multilingual, mixed-ability classrooms where differentiated instruction was essential to meeting the needs of individual learners. In China, she developed an approach to mastery through deliberate and reflective practice, using repetition not as rote learning but as a way to build the confidence and automaticity that can ultimately enable greater creativity.

Together, these experiences have shaped an approach that balances curiosity with structure, differentiation with high expectations and mastery with creativity. Ally’s goal is to give students the foundations they need to become increasingly independent learners, prepared to approach unfamiliar challenges with confidence and resilience.
