Designing for the Future
Our Grade 9 Design students are in full swing of their first unit, Sustainable Architecture. Guided by the statement of inquiry, “The function of sustainable technologies is to develop and improve the built environment whilst making more sustainable use of resources” - students are exploring how design can shape a better future. For their formative assessment, students sketched a floor plan of a room in their home, before moving into Google SketchUp, a computer-aided design tool they are just beginning to master. Over the coming weeks, they will apply their skills to design a sustainable home, integrating ideas of development, function, and sustainability.
Exploring Global Issues
Grade 10 English A students presented on nonfiction texts connected to current events. This encouraged students to think critically about real-world issues while developing collaboration and presentation skills. It was wonderful to see them engaging critically with global topics and sharing their perspectives with confidence.
Analyzing Texts & Celebrating National Pride
Grade 11 DP Vietnamese students have engaged in a variety of meaningful activities to strengthen their analytical skills in non-literary texts. They practiced writing film reviews, analyzing advertisements and cartoons, and presenting their perspectives through group discussions.
Through these activities, students not only deepened their language knowledge but also developed key ATL skills: critical thinking in analysis, communication in presentations, collaboration in group work, and self-management in preparing written tasks.
In celebration of Vietnam’s National Day on September 2, students studied and presented on President Ho Chi Minh’s Declaration of Independence. This activity helped them connect academic learning with national history, fostering both patriotism and pride.
