Dwight is, first and foremost, a family school, with three generations of Spahn family ownership and leadership, still led today by Chancellor Stephen Spahn, who has been the school’s Chancellor for 50 years.
Truly embodying the word ‘visionary’, and all that entails, Stephen Spahn can often be heard beginning a sentence exuberantly with “Imagine…”
Chancellor Spahn is a legend in Education circles in the US. He is distinguished as the longest-serving head of an independent school in the United States; perhaps the longest-serving head of any school anywhere! And, he still wakes up every morning at 5am to plan school improvements, stay in touch with the latest education news, and greet students!
