Vu Nguyen, PHE Learning Assistant and Coach - Dwight School Hanoi

Vu has been coaching and teaching Physical Education for around ten years, working with students from elementary through high school. Over the years, he has taught and coached a range of sports, including swimming, volleyball, football, and athletics, helping students develop both skills and confidence in many different arenas.

A Memorable Coaching Moment

One of Vu’s favorite memories comes from the swimming pool. At the start of a program, several very shy students were nervous even to step into the water. Through patience, encouragement, and steady practice, he watched them gradually overcome their fears. The moment they swam their first full lap independently, smiling with pride and a clear sense of achievement, reminded Vu why he loves being a PE teacher and coach, because sport has the power to transform young people.

Teaching Philosophy

Vu believes that Physical Education is about much more than physical skills. For him, PE is a powerful space for character-building, teamwork, goal-setting, and developing lifelong healthy habits. On the field, in the gym, or in the pool, he aims to help every student grow in confidence, resilience, and respect, for themselves, their teammates, and the game they play.
