Daniel Boyles, IB DP Physics | IB DP Mathematics Teacher - Dwight School Hanoi

Inspiring a Deeper Understanding of the World

With more than 20 years of experience teaching Physics and Mathematics, Daniel brings a wealth of knowledge to the classroom. Holding a Bachelor of Science in Physics, a Master of Arts in Teaching Physics, and certifications in both IB Physics and IB Mathematics, he is passionate about helping students develop the curiosity, analytical thinking, and problem-solving skills that extend far beyond the classroom.

From Research to the Classroom

Before becoming a teacher, Daniel worked as a researcher in the areas of chemistry and physics. While completing graduate school, he began teaching physics labs and quickly discovered that sharing knowledge and helping others understand complex ideas was just as rewarding as scientific research. That experience inspired him to pursue a career in education.

Sharing a Passion for Discovery

Although Daniel always enjoyed mathematics, it was astronomy that first inspired his fascination with physics. As a teenager, an old telescope and a set of star charts sparked countless evenings exploring the night sky. Those experiences, together with a love of science fiction, helped him discover how physics could explain the world around him while combining his passion for mathematics and scientific inquiry.

Learning Through Curiosity and Practice

Daniel views learning as something that doesn't end once a concept is understood, it grows through practice. By encouraging learners to tackle a variety of increasingly challenging problems, he helps them develop the confidence, resilience, and mastery that come from consistent effort.
