Keino Purcell | University Guidance and Career Planning Counselor - Dwight School Hanoi

Guiding Students Toward Their Future

With more than a decade of experience in university admissions and enrollment management, Keino brings invaluable insight into the higher education journey. Before joining Dwight School Hanoi, he worked at a highly selective university in the United States, reviewing applications from students around the world and gaining a deep understanding of what makes each applicant's story unique.

Holding a Bachelor of Arts in International Studies with a minor in Human Rights and a Master of Education in Higher Education Administration, Keino combines admissions expertise with a genuine passion for helping students discover the opportunities that best match their ambitions, strengths, and aspirations.

Seeing Every Student in Context

One of Keino's proudest professional achievements was developing training resources that helped admissions colleagues better understand the wide range of international high school curricula encountered in a highly selective admissions process. By providing greater context for different educational systems, these resources supported more consistent, informed, and equitable application reviews. It reinforced his belief that every student's achievements should be understood within the unique context of their educational journey.

Today, that same philosophy shapes the guidance he provides at Dwight School Hanoi. He works closely with students to help them understand their strengths, explore meaningful opportunities, and present an authentic picture of who they are as they prepare for university and beyond.

Finding Your Own Path

Looking back on his own education, Keino wishes someone had told him that he didn't need to have his entire future figured out while he was still in high school. Instead, he encourages students to focus on discovering what genuinely interests them rather than trying to pursue a path they think will impress others. He believes that curiosity, self-awareness, and authenticity are the strongest foundations for future success.

A Global Perspective

Originally from Trinidad and Tobago, Keino brings an international outlook shaped by both his personal and professional experiences. Outside of work, he enjoys reading science fiction, particularly stories that explore humanity, curiosity, and the possibilities of the future, and is a passionate football supporter. Whether discussing university pathways or the latest novel, he enjoys conversations that challenge perspectives and encourage people to think beyond what they already know.
